Celebrate Dad in America’s Most Perfect Village

There is so much to do in Cooperstown, even on a tight budget and Father’s Day weekend is no exception! Cooperstown is the perfect place to celebrate dad this Father’s Day. Let’s talk about the top three free and inexpensive can’t miss events happening this weekend:

Cherry Valley Outdoor Games *FREE EVENT*

Cherry Valley is a quaint village, just over the hill from Cooperstown. It is rich with history, arts and at least one weekend a year… lumberjacks! Kick off Father’s Day weekend in style at the Cherry Valley Outdoor Games, the perfect event for lumberjacks, outdoor enthusiast, and fans of the original extreme sport. This event is excellent for the whole family, there is truly something for everyone. Aside from the main events such as the STHIL Timbersports Women’s Professional Division Qualifying and the Lumberjack Obstacle Course, there are cornhole tournaments, skid steer rodeos, delicious food, vendors, live music by local favorite Scattered Flurries and more!

Father’s Day Grilling: Taste of Fly Creek Series *FREE EVENT*

It’s not Father’s Day Weekend without lighting up the grill and this year you can count on the Fly Creek Cider Mill as your grill companion. The mill’s chef has some delicious Robert Rothschild Farm’s sauces and marinades that you must try. The best part is you can sample before you buy! On Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm the mill chef will be grilling up some samples, not to mention all all of the other products to sample including apple salsa, preserves, aged cheddar cheese and Mill-made fudge and apple wine.

Be sure to bring your kids, the mill pond is home to ducks and geese that you can feed with corn from the mill shop. For some added fun drop by this Saturday morning between 9:00am and 11:00am for Cooperstown Cars & Coffee, a global experience where people gather to share their passion for cars and coffee. While you are exploring the cars, your kids will love exploring Tractorland, a kiddie play area with a climb-on tractor and a paved little-tike track.

FREE Admission for Fathers at The Farmers’ Museum and Fenimore Art Museum

The Farmers’ Museum and the Fenimore Art Museum are the perfect place to celebrate with your dad this Father’s Day and as an added bonus, this year on Sunday, June 17^th dad’s get in for FREE! Bring the whole family and celebrate with the new exhibitions at the Fenimore; ‘Thomas Cole and The Garden of Eden’ as well as ‘Edward Weston: Portrait of the Young Man as an Artist’. After exploring the exhibits throughout the Fenimore, enjoy the beautiful views of Otsego lake, then head across the street to The Farmers Museum. On Sunday at 11:00am The Farmers’ Muesum will offer a ‘Hoppy Trails Tour’ where you can experience their new exhibit on hops and craft brewing. Following the tour, discover all that The Farmers’ Museum has to offer from antique tools to farm animals throughout the historic village. Don’t forget to stop by the historic Empire State Carousel, the perfect family photo opportunity.
