13th Annual Empty Bowls Luncheon to benefit the Cooperstown Food Pantry
The “Empty Bowls” project began in the early 1990’s by a group of potters who wanted to raise money for their local food bank and soup kitchen. The concept
spread across the country, and this will be our 13th year hosting this event in Cooperstown. Local potters are donating over 300 unique, hand-thrown bowls for the event. Local restaurants, caterers and individuals are donating soups and breads. In addition there will be a jar raffle of pottery.
Guests are asked for a $20 donation for a simple soup lunch served in a beautiful hand-thrown bowl of their choice, which they keep as a reminder of “empty bowls” and hunger in Otsego County. All money raised from the event is donated to the Cooperstown Food Pantry. In the past 12 years over $70,000 has been raised for the Pantry through the Empty Bowls project.
