Art Opening for New Works
All are welcome to attend the opening of the newest show at the Art Garage, that features NEW WORK by three of the area’s best-known artists each working in her own very distinct visual vocabulary!
Ashley Norwood Cooper and Tracy Helgeson will unveil most recent paintings — and Marcie Schwartzmnan will share ceramic and fiber art prepared for the elements shows at the Smithy just this past summer. Cooper creates slightly crazed intimate scenes that reflect versions of domestic life, with, sometimes, dogs, cats, children, father, and now ….bees! Helgeson continues to hone her landscapes, ever reduced to the most powerful elements of color and form, peopled sometimes with trees, sometimes with barns and farm houses and rarely with ladies in evening gowns (!). Schwartzman creates a unique body of ceramics each integrated with a specific textile. An accomplished seamstress, she is combining two seemingly incongruous elements into a harmonious whole.
And don’t miss the Adam Masava one man show in the Middle Bay, Direct from Nairobi! Accomplished figures of the industrious inhabitants of Mukuru, an informal settlement outside Nairobi. And, in the Third Bay, Louis Sherry’s remarkable colorful suspended sculptures that he considers to be birdhouses.
