Free Glass Demonstration: Tina Betz
Accomplished glass artist Tina Betz (Clayville NY) will demonstrate the magic of how she creates small lace-like sculptures with threads of glass, using a small handherld torch. Her work on display in the current show — big. small. fragile. strong — features flameworked enamel glass, work made with hot glass– some gorgeous approx. foot-long reclining paper-weight sculptures shaped like honey dippers…. and one sand cast lamp funnel (paperweight). Betz has been written up in Glass Magazine, and teaches robotics (!) at all levels of education — college, HS and elementary. Her work speaks to domestic and feminine themes, as well as to the natural world. The demonstration will be followed by a free panel discussion Betz will share with established artist Kate Dodd who creates sculpture from tiny strips of resonant text. The talk will begin at 4PM. All are welcome. Reservations recommended for both events: text/call 315-941-9607 or email leartgaragae@gmail.com. The exhibition is open Saturdays 11-3 and daily with a text or call, on view through July 20 at 3PM.
