Marcie Schwartzman: Stitchery Demo
We look forward to Marcie Schwartzman’s stitchery demo Sat. Aug. 23, 11am-12:30pm. In her iconic textile piece on display (and for sale!) Focus — complete with Japanese characters that signify ‘focus’ or ‘concentration’- she creates a mesmerizing outline of Ichiro Suzuki using sashiko. a traditional Japanese stitch. She will even show us the Japanese embroidery thread she brought back from Japan! No charge to observe and listen as she explains this ancient technique that began a very long time ago as a mending stitch. Marcie Schwartzman is one of 15 (!) artists featured in the current Art Garage exhibition, ‘Samurai Baseball & More: a fine-arts-look-at-baseball-exhibition.’ All welcome! Light refreshment. As always there is plenty of room to park on gallery grounds and lawn– for public safety please do not park on town road. Next to come in the free public programs at the Art Garage: two artists panel discussions, Aug. 28 and Sept 3 at 5PM. The Art Garage is open Saturdays 11-3 and every day with a text or call to 315-941-9607 to make an appointment. The two-bay show, Samurai Baseball, is on view through Saturday Sept. 13.
