Sunrise on Glimmerglass Photo Excursion With Kevin Gray
There are few sights more spectacular than a sunrise on Otsego Lake! Take a walk behind Fenimore Art Museum with photographer and museum staff member Kevin Gray as he provides tips on composition, light and shadow, camera techniques and more while the sun rises above the lake. We will explore landscape and nature photography with the goal of sending you home with some fantastic images.
Please bring any type of camera you want (with at least one charged battery!), lenses, and consider a tripod if you have one. Wear comfortable shoes for walking and come dressed for the weather (we reserve the right to cancel if heavy rains are forecast).

Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown are offering two photography workshops on October 7, taking place at sunrise and sunset. If you enjoy photography and are looking for spectacular vistas, interesting subject matter, and knowledgeable direction, these workshops are a must. Kevin Gray, photographer and the museums’ manager of arts education, will walk you along the shore of Otsego Lake in the morning and through The Farmers’ Museum’s Historic Village in the evening–after the site is closed to visitors. You’ll visit photogenic areas and receive helpful pointers on composition, light and shadow, camera techniques, and more, with the goal of sending you home with some fantastic photographs. Both classes take place Monday, October 7 (Sunrise workshop: 6:45–8:45 a.m. and Sunset workshop: 5:00–7:00 p.m.). Cost for each workshop: $17 / $15 members. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.com.
