The Man Behind the Camera – an Evening with Dmitri Kasterine
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to meet the man behind the camera, master portrait photographer, Dmitri Kasterine –
“I will be giving a talk, organized by the Schoharie County Arts, about my 60 years of full time photography on May 20 at the American Hotel, 192 Main St, Sharon Springs, NY at 6:00 pm. The historic Greek Revival mansion, now the boutique American Hotel, has kindly lent us their dinning room to hold the talk. Just an hour east from Albany, 3 1/2 hours from New York City and an hour west of Utica, Sharon Springs is situated in the middle of the glorious countryside of the Leatherstocking Region of New York State.
The talk will be about a variety of subjects I have covered ranging from 20th century cultural figures, amongst others, Mick Jagger, James Baldwin, Stanley Kubrick and HM Queen Elizabeth II, to portraits from my book about Newburgh NY, to those unknown people who have for one reason or another struck me as I caught a glimpse of them as I went around and about, to a section of life going on pictures in USA and Europe.
The photographs will be displayed around the room and I shall tell you the stories behind some of them. Questions most welcome as we go. RSVP is not required but is welcome to help secure a seat for this event.”
