The Templeton Players “Mr. Whittermat”
The Farmers’ Museum’s resident theater troupe, The Templeton Players, are thrilled to present “Mr. Whittermat,” a hilarious 19th century farcical romp by Herbert Pelham Curtis! This production features Andrew Munro, Diane Stammel, Elisa Donnovan, and Amy Wyant under the direction of Emily Begin. (The role of Eglantine will be played by Celia Begin on August 24/25.)
Performance Schedule:
Regular performances are free with museum admission and take place on Saturdays/Sundays in July and August, at NOON and 2PM on The Farmer’s Museum’s Tavern Green. There are four more regularly scheduled performance dates: August 24/25, and August 31/September 1. The Players will also present a special performance of the show at the Foothills Fringe festival in Oneonta on Sunday, September 22 at 2PM.

Synopsis:
Eglantine is desperate to find love. There’s only one problem… Mrs. Coddle, her doddering, domineering mother, refuses to let her marry just anyone without her firm seal of approval. After Eglantine confides her despair in Jane, the Coddles’ housemaid, she discovers that Jane seems to loathe her mistress more than she ever imagined. Soon, they devise a plan to thwart Mrs. Coddle’s machinations, and bring Eglantine her true love. However… it’s at that moment when an intruder breaks into their home; a bumbling hunter intent at all costs on chasing down an elusive rabbit that has run through their garden. His arrival throws the already tenuous situation into complete disarray, and will change the lives of everyone involved forever.
