Trifecta of Fun in Fly Creek!
August 24th – Family Farm Day, Community Day & Antique Engine Show all Saturday in the Hamlet of Fly Creek!
FLY CREEK, NY – Three events have aligned themselves at the Crossroads in Fly Creek for Saturday, August 24. Family Farm Day, Area-Wide Yard Sales and the Antique Engine Show offer a diverse array of entertainments for visitors.
Family Farm Day features Farm Tours of Otsego, Schoharie & Delaware Counties including five in Fly Creek! Tours include the Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard, Pail Shop Vineyards, Kingfisher Lavender and Tanner Hill Herb Farm. Family Farm Day is sponsored by the Cornell Cooperative Extension to showcase the importance of Central New York Agriculture. For a guide to all farms and special coupons visit www.familyfarmday.org.
The Fly Creek Area Historical Society will host its popular 20th Annual Fly Creek Community Day & Area-wide Lawn Sales. The area will bustle with over 50 lawn sales, shows and special events. Saturday morning starts with an “all-you-can-eat” pancake breakfast served at the Fly Creek Fire Hall from 7:30 – 11:00. The Society’s Grange Hall will serve a luncheon starting at 11:00. The Fly Creek Methodist Church will hold a bake sale in addition to a large tag sale at the Church. The Fly Creek Cider Mill will hold their annual inventory reduction warehouse sale starting at 9:00.
Antique engine enthusiasts will enjoy the 26th Annual Antique Engine Show held at the Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard. Single-cylinder gas engines from manufacturers such as Hercules, Economy, Jaeger and McCormick will be delivering their famous hit-and-miss sound with many operating early agricultural machinery. The Engine Show will be held rain or shine both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 until 4:00. Admission and parking are free.
his weekend also marks the arrival of New York’s apple crop with varieties including Paula Red, Ginger Gold and Zestar.
