Zucchini Days at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market
The Cooperstown Farmers’ Market will celebrate all things zucchini at the Saturday Market on August 12 and the Tuesday Market on August 15. Both days will feature zucchini specials, zucchini recipes, and the annual zucchini races.
Children can decorate a zucchini, add wheels, and race it down a 16-foot track. Zucchini races will be held on August 12 from 11am-1pm and on August 15 from 12pm-2pm. Art supplies provided by Otsego 2000 and zucchini provided by Heller’s Farm.
There will be a selection of zucchini recipes including appetizers, main dishes, pickles, and desserts.
There will be live music on both days. Local Seisiún will perform Irish trad 10am to noon on August 12, and Ed and Brian will perform eclectic Americana from 12:30pm-2:30pm on August 15.
“We love celebrating the abundance of local harvests at the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market,” says Ellen Pope, Executive Director of Otsego 2000, which sponsors the market. “Zucchini Days, with the much-loved Zucchini Derby racetrack and a celebration of all things zucchini, showcases this wonderfully versatile vegetable. Come on down to the Market on Saturdays and Tuesdays to discover all our vendors have to offer.”
